Pigmentation Treatment in Harrow

Dark patches and uneven tone are stubborn; they sit below the skin’s surface, and creams rarely shift them long-term. At Medcura, we start by identifying which type of pigmentation you have, because the right treatment depends on it.

Pigmentation Results at Medcura

Real patient results from treatments performed by founder Nimi, shared with full patient consent.

Our Range of Pigmentation Treatments

Your pigmentation type is confirmed at consultation, and the treatment is matched to it, never a one-size-fits-all approach.

Microneedling with ASCE+ Exosomes

Our treatment for sun damage, PIH and hyperpigmentation. Medical microneedling delivers regenerative exosomes into the skin, progressively lifting pigment and improving skin quality with each session.

The Perfect Peel with Mini Booster

A brightening chemical peel for moderate pigmentation and uneven tone, a good starting point for milder concerns, with minimal downtime.

IPL for Pink and Red Marks

A layered resurfacing facial with Obagi Blue Peel and LED therapy, working on pigmentation and uneven tone at a deeper level.

IPL for Pink and Red Marks

Targeted light treatment for post-inflammatory erythema, the pink marks left after breakouts, and redness-based concerns

Melasma Treatment

Melasma is treated differently, with combination sessions and our complete Melasma Clearing Programme, including prescription skincare, supplements and diet support.

Types of Pigmentation

Pigmentation isn’t one condition, and the right treatment depends on which type you have.

Sun Damage and Hyperpigmentation

Brown patches and uneven tone from sun exposure and skin ageing. Treated with microneedling with ASCE+ exosomes.

Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH)

Brown marks left behind after breakouts or skin injury, more common in darker skin tones. Treated with microneedling with ASCE+ exosomes.

Post-Inflammatory Erythema (PIE)

The pink or red marks left after breakouts. Treated with IPL.

Melasma

A deeper form of pigmentation, usually on the cheeks, forehead or upper lip, driven by internal factors, hormones, liver function, thyroid and blood sugar. Melasma needs a different approach from other pigmentation.

Is this treatment right for you?

Pigmentation responds best when the right treatment is matched to the right cause. Your skin type, pigmentation depth and triggers are assessed before any plan is confirmed.

Suitable For

  • Dark patches or uneven tone on the face
  • Brown or pink marks left after breakouts
  • Sun damage and age spots
  • Pigmentation that hasn’t responded to creams or peels

Not Suitable If

  • You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You are taking or have recently stopped the acne medication isotretinoin (Roaccutane)
  • You have an active skin infection near the treatment area

What Changes After Pigmentation Treatment

Pigmentation doesn’t fade in one session, and it doesn’t fade evenly. What you’ll notice first is less inflammation, then gradual lightening, then a more even tone as the course progresses.

Visibly Reduced Pigmentation
Dark marks and patches become progressively lighter as pigment activity is reduced with each session.

More Even Skin Tone
The combination of clinical treatment and prescribed skincare restores a more uniform complexion, reducing the contrast between pigmented and unpigmented areas.

Improved Skin Quality
Microneedling with exosomes improves hydration, collagen and overall skin health alongside the pigment correction, so skin looks better, not just lighter.

Long-Lasting Clarity
Treatment works at a structural level rather than the surface, with results continuing to develop over months with consistent aftercare and SPF.

Why Choose Medcura for Pigmentation

If your pigmentation keeps returning, the treatment hasn’t matched the type. That’s why every plan here starts with identifying what you actually have: sun damage, PIH, PIE or melasma, before anything is booked.

We also never treat pigmentation with an approach that risks making it worse: melasma, for example, is never treated with laser here, because laser can trigger rebound pigmentation, particularly in skin types III and IV. Treating pigmentation safely in all skin tones is one of the things Medcura is known for.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know which type of pigmentation I have?

Most people can’t tell by looking, brown patches can be sun damage, PIH or melasma, and each needs a different treatment. Your type is confirmed at consultation before anything is planned.

Milder pigmentation often shows visible improvement after one session; deeper or long-standing pigmentation usually needs a course of three to four.

Yes, treating pigmentation safely in skin types III and IV is one of our specialisms, and we avoid approaches that risk rebound pigmentation in darker skin tones.

Most treatments involve three to seven days of mild redness or peeling, depending on the treatment chosen.

Melasma is treated differently from other pigmentation; see our [Melasma Clearing Programme] for the full approach.
