Our Range of IPL Treatments
IPL can be adapted to target different skin concerns using specific wavelengths and treatment settings. Following a detailed skin assessment, your practitioner will determine whether IPL is appropriate and tailor the treatment parameters to your skin type and concern.
Freckle Removal
Targeted light breaks down the pigment in freckles, which fade gradually as the skin clears them. A minimum of three to four sessions is needed to see results.
Sun Damage and Age Spot Removal - Face and Décolleté
Clears sun-related brown spots and uneven tone on the face, neck and décolleté, restoring clearer, more even skin across a course.
Spider Vein Removal
Light energy collapses visible surface vessels, which the body then clears, reducing redness and visible veins without damaging surrounding skin.
Rosacea IPL Facial
A calming light-based facial for rosacea-prone skin, reducing background redness and visible flushing over a course of sessions.
IPL Hair Removal - Small Areas
Targeted hair removal for small areas, reducing regrowth progressively with each session.
Is IPL Treatment Right for You?
IPL can be effective for a range of pigmentation and redness-related concerns, but it is not suitable for every skin type or every form of pigmentation. Your skin type, pigmentation pattern and underlying concern will therefore be carefully assessed before treatment is recommended.
Suitable For:
- Freckles or sun spots on the face, neck or décolleté
- Visible spider veins or surface redness
- Rosacea-prone skin with persistent flushing
- The pink marks left after breakouts (post-inflammatory erythema)
- Unwanted hair in small areas
Not Suitable If:
- Recently tanned or sunburnt skin
- Currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- Active skin infection in the treatment area
- Taking medication that increases light sensitivity, confirmed at consultation
What Changes After IPL Treatment
IPL results build across a course rather than overnight; treated pigment darkens briefly, then fades as the skin clears it.
Clearer, More Even Tone
Freckles and sun spots fade progressively with each session, with the biggest change usually visible after the second or third.
Reduced Redness
Background redness and flushing calm as visible vessels are cleared, with skin becoming steadier over the course.
Fading of Post-Breakout Marks
The pink marks breakouts leave behind respond well to light treatment, clearing faster than they would on their own.
Smoother, Hair-Free Skin
Treated areas stay smoother for progressively longer with each hair removal session.
Why Choose Medcura for IPL Treatments?
Safe and effective IPL treatment begins with an accurate assessment. Skin type, the nature of the concern and appropriate treatment settings all influence both the safety and quality of the result.
At Medcura, we only recommend IPL when it is appropriate for your skin. Certain conditions, including melasma, may be aggravated by heat and light-based treatments and are therefore approached differently. If IPL is not the right treatment for you, we will recommend a more suitable alternative rather than treating unnecessarily.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many sessions will I need?
Most concerns need three to four sessions, spaced several weeks apart. Freckle removal requires at least three to four sessions to see results.
Does IPL hurt?
Most clients describe it as a warm flick against the skin, quick and very tolerable, with no numbing needed.
Can IPL treat Melasma?
No, and we won’t offer it. Heat-based treatment can make melasma worse. Instead, we treat melasma with our Melasma Clearing Programme.
Is IPL safe for darker skin?
Suitability depends on skin type and is confirmed at consultation. Some IPL treatments aren’t appropriate for deeper skin tones, and we’ll always tell you honestly and recommend the safer alternative.
What should I avoid before treatment?
Sun exposure and tanning for several weeks before your session, and self-tan on the area.
